Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Originating in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. All Pella® products meet or exceed ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only could you find a decline with your heating and cooling bill, you will help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and custom-built for your home, meaning no two projects are identical. Our broad spectrum of products make it hard to discuss pricing without first considering your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it helpful to send out a Pella sales representative who can provide you with a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To expedite the quoting process, your Pella® sales representative is armed with a computer and a portable printer so that they can provide you with all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has a chance to consider the requirements of the task and matches them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large variety of first-rate products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, offering you a chance to make the upgrades you want to while building great value into your Northern Virginia area home as you do it.

Can I paint my vinyl windows?

The beauty of Pella's® vinyl windows is that you don’t have to. The windows can be customize to the color your want. We do not advise painting your vinyl products, as this will end your warranty. Some paint manufacturers claim that their paint can work on vinyl, but it could destroy your windows if the wrong paint is applied or done incorrectly.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We advise that you use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mixture or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also mix your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the solution to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not recommend glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based because they could form streaks or create a film that draws moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses dependable installers who are certified to install Pella products. They are required to complete a thorough set of training courses so that your windows and doors are properly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty standards. We look for the best Northern Virginia-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before they can be hired, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully protected by liability and workers compensation insurance. Beyond Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your Northern Virginia Pella branch offers services and support that “big box” stores can’t perform. Our staff is made up of professionals whose expertise is in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and expert installers means that your project will have the knowledge of our whole team. We frequently use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.
